Suppah Social — Private Dinners

Private Dinners,
Cooked at the Table.

Book a verified private chef to cook a multi-course dinner for 4 to 30 guests at your home— or, when your space won't fit the night, a Suppah Social host space (loft, rooftop, larger condo) you can rent for the evening. Birthday dinners, corporate suppahs, anniversary nights, "I just want to cook for my friends" nights. Members-only.

What is a Private Dinner on Suppah Social?

A private dinner is a chef-cooked, multi-course meal hosted at a private space — not at a restaurant, not catered out of warming trays, not delivered. The host invites the guests, the chef plans the menu and cooks on-site, the guests eat together at one table. The vibe sits somewhere between a dinner party and a tasting menu — and the chef is right there, in the kitchen, talking through what they made.

On Suppah Social, every private dinner is booked through a verified private chefwho's been ID-verified, background-checked, and credentialed across four certification types. Every guest at the table is also a verified member. So when someone you barely know walks in, you already know they passed the same vetting your friend did.

How to Book a Private Dinner

The whole thing is three steps after you're a member:

  1. Pick a chef and pick where you're hosting. Browse /explore and filter by neighborhood, cuisine, and dining style. Tap into a chef's profile to see their proposal builder, sample menus, completed dinners, and reviews. The default — and what most members do — is host the dinner at your own home: your apartment, your kitchen table, your dining room. If you don't have a space that fits the size of the night (small apartment, work dinner, milestone you want to feel different), the platform also lists Suppah Social host spaces — vetted lofts, rooftops, and larger condos — that you can rent for the night. Either way, the chef cooks on-site.
  2. Send a booking request. Pick a date, a headcount, and where the dinner will happen (your home, or a host space if you went that route). Add a note about the occasion (birthday, work team, low-key Saturday) and any dietary restrictions across the table. The chef builds a proposal — menu, ingredient list, courses, total price.
  3. Accept & pay deposit. 50% is charged when you accept the proposal. The remaining 50% is auto-charged 48 hours before the event. If you cancel inside 72 hours, our standard refund policy applies. If the chef cancels, you get a full automatic refund and a heads-up to rebook.

Most private dinner bookings happen 2–6 weeks out. Same-week bookings are possible if a chef's calendar opens; check "available within 7 days" on the explore filter.

Pricing — What a Private Dinner Costs

On Suppah Social, private dinner pricing typically runs $80–$250 per person, all-in. That covers the food, the chef's prep and on-site cooking, service during the meal, and cleanup. It does not include alcohol unless you explicitly request the chef source it.

The price floor is the chef's. We don't cap rates from above and we don't race them to the bottom. A line cook moonlighting their first three private gigs might charge $80 a head; a chef with a serious resume cooking a six-course tasting may charge $250+. The chef sets it; the platform adds 5%.

When the dinner happens at a Suppah Social host space, the split is 70/25/5: 70% to the chef, 25% to the host who provided the venue, 5% to the platform. When it's your own home (no host), it's 95/5: 95% to the chef, 5% platform. Same fee structure as the rest of the site — transparent, posted, never hidden.
